How does Local Civics support diverse learners, such as language learners or students with disabilities?

At Local Civics, we create curricular resources and tech-enabled learning that is accessible to all students, no matter what their background is or where their civic journey begins. Our standards-aligned, project-based curricular programming and the badge-based learning on the Local Civics Tech Platform empower students to pursue their passions, impact their community, and take charge as they engage with civics, college, and career skill building. Our unique focus on culturally competent civics education and project-based learning allows students to authentically engage with civic learning through an inclusive lens. We support educators through various professional learning opportunities, preparing educators and community members to leverage inquiry-based approaches and scaffolded learning for their specific students’ needs.

Does Local Civics provide Professional Development?

Local Civics offers customized professional development that includes district-wide and school-wide sessions, online learning modules, curricular coaching, and professional learning communities of educators across schools. Local Civics facilitators lead educators through content-based, skill-based, and inquiry-based planning activities that save educators time and help them prepare for successful implementation of project-based learning strategies.
